These galleries contain birds that I encountered on my five week road trip across the USA. They are in the order of my travels, organized by regions. Please hover over photos for details.
Nevada and Sedona
I left California in early March, stopping near Las Vegas, Nevada, and then in Sedona Arizona, to visit wildlife refuges and parks.

East Texas
One my way south, I stopped off to visit a friend south of Fort Worth. Her yard turned out to be a mini wildlife refuge.

High Island and Bolivar flats, Texas
The Gulf Coast of Texas is one of the most marvelous, birdiest, spots in the world.

Florida
I zipped through Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi, and stopped for only a few days in Florida. I need to go back for all the birds I missed!

BACK in Texas!
Birding is often like a game of tag: While in Brazoria National WIldlife Refuge, a birder recommended the oddly titled private preserve, Dos Vacas Muertos Preserve. At Dos Vacas, another send me on to another local hotspot, Lafitte’s Cove.

Brazo’s Bend State Park, Texas
The state parks of Texas are amazing! Brazo’s Bend was a highlight of my travels.
